The Andromeda Galaxy (M31) is the nearest major galaxy to the Milky Way, located about 2.5 million light-years away, and it contains roughly 1 trillion stars—far more than our own galaxy. Astronomers estimate it could host hundreds of billions to over a trillion planets, though only one candidate planet has been tentatively detected so far.
